It is in these circumstances that Publisher (Editions) Record launches your line of magazines (comic books) that started in 1974 with Corto Maltese and Skorpio and continue later with Tit-Bits, Pif-Paf, Gunga Din and beyond Skorpio Plus and Phoenix. Leading the Editions Record was Alfredo Scutti, cartoonist who had worked in the late fifties in Totem magazine, published in Argentine by the Italian artist and writer Alvaro Zerboni, who at that time also edited a magazine of photo-novels.

About the end of that decade Skorpio covers begin to imitate the aesthetics imposed by Fierro, comic book appeared in 1984, high impact among young audiences. Notwithstanding this decline continues, no characters emerge as relevant and by 1991 the highlights were the work of artist Enrique Alcatena, whose boundless imagination illustrated scripts of «Crossing the labyrinth» or «Mobile fortress».
According to the website «Historieteca» Skorpio last number was 235 in January 1996. In September 1998 there was an attempted revival lasted only two numbers: 280 and 281. Μια τεράστια προσωπικότητα, σε μια πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία παγκοσμίως, από αυτές που συγκαταλέγονται ανάμεσα στις κορυφαίες κόμικς – δημιουργίες όλων των εποχών! Συνεπώς, μόνον ρίσκο δεν εμπεριείχε σαν στοιχείο, η έκδοση του άλμπουμ για το οποίο θα μιλήσουμε σήμερα, από την εκδοτική Ars Longa το 1987. Ειδικά, από την στιγμή που ο ήρωας και η ιστορία, ήταν πολύ αγαπημένα ήδη στο Ελληνικό κοινό, από την πρώτη τους παρουσία στα εικονογραφημένα μας, στο περιοδικό «Σκαθάρι» της Μαμούθ Κόμικς, μόλις 2 χρόνια πριν.
Πρόκειται για την «Μπαλάντα της Αλμυρής Θάλασσας», του μεγάλου σχεδιαστή Hugo Pratt. Ίσως η πιο σημαντική του δημιουργία και σίγουρα αυτή που τον καθιέρωσε στο κόμικς κοινό. Νομίζω ότι ούτε ο Pratt, αλλά ούτε και ο Corto Maltese χρειάζονται περαιτέρω συστάσεις. Ο ναυτικός με το attitude που αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς στα κόμικς του είδους, το εξωτικό στοιχείο και η δύναμη της εικόνας είναι αυτά που μαγνητίζουν τους αναγνώστες ακόμη και σήμερα, με την φρεσκάδα και την πλέον χαρακτηριστική γραμμή στο σκίτσο. Επιδραστικό όσο κανένα άλλο, το άλμπουμ αυτό ώθησε πολλούς νέους δημιουργούς σε μια προσπάθεια να μιμηθούν κατά κάποιον τρόπο, τον αξεπέραστο αυτό χαρακτήρα του Pratt. Προσωπικά, πιστεύω ότι με δουλειές σαν αυτήν, το κόμικς τεκμηριώνει με τον καλύτερο τρόπο, ότι αποτελεί αναπόσπαστο τμήμα των τεχνών και δικαιώνει όσους πίστεψαν σ` αυτό και του έδωσαν την ένατη θέση.
